    From the BOINC forums:

    David Anderson wrote:
    There are (at least) two issues with 6.13.3:

    1) For GPU apps, it passes an additional command-line argument that causes some apps to fail (usually by exiting immediately). This will be fixed in 6.13.4.

    2) 6.13.3 handles file upload certificates (a mechanism that prevents DoS attacks on upload servers) differently than previous versions.
    This change was necessary to make scheduler requests and replies readable by standard XML parsers. But it means that file uploads will fail to projects that a) use upload certificates, and b) aren't running current server code.

    I sent email to boinc_projects describing this change, and recommending that projects disable upload certificates until they're able to upgrade their server code. Not all project admins read boinc_projects, so it may be necessary to contact them via their message boards or email, and I urge Alpha-testers to do so.

    David Anderson, boinc_projects email list wrote:
    "Upload certificates" are a mechanism that keeps bad guys from DoS'ing your upload servers (note: such an attack has never happened, as far as I know).

    We're changing the format of upload certificates, and we're starting to test a version of the client for which old-format certificates won't work. Volunteers testers won't be able to upload completed jobs, and they may complain to you.

    I suggest that all projects disable upload certificates. To do so, add the following to your config.xml file:

    <dont_generate_upload_certificates/>
    <ignore_upload_certificates/>

    To resume using upload certificates, if you wish:

    1) upgrade to the current server source code (from trunk)
    2) wait for all jobs with old-format certificates to be dispatched
    3) re-enable certificates by removing the above lines.

    Let me know if any questions.

      2 months later and the problem is still unfixed. Please implement David Anderson's fix

        Seems the upload problem with version 7 clients still exists on this project. The problem is that a a fix needs to be implemented by the project admin to fix for upload certificates. Please see the following message from David Anderson from the boinc alpha forum.

        These project need to disable file upload certificate checking
        in order to work with 7.0 clients.
        Specifically, they need to add
        <ignore_upload_certificates/>
        <dont_generate_upload_certificates/>
        to their project config file.
        I posted these instructions to the boinc_projects email list
        a long time ago.

        Please try to contact the admins of these projects
        (email, message boards) etc. to convey this to them.

        THanks -- David

        I hope the admin reads the forum, this also needs to be implemented on the test project.

          Is the admin about? He/she needs to take care of the issue in this forum. If this problem is not taken care of, as version 7 rolls out there will be either lots of wasted workunits and cycles on computers because of the lack of action of the project, or more appropriate people leaving the project. The project needs to correct the problem below. If you are running version 7 of boinc this project will not validate the results of your computers work. The fix is a simple one on the part of the system admin. If the system admin reads this message please acknowledge. This problem also exists on the test project.

                Problem appears to be still occuring on the AlmereGrid TEST project, the config file needs to be updated there as well. Since there is no forum over there, posting here.

                    well, they just sent version 7.0.23 out today to be tested. according to the boinc people this may, if there "are no show stoppers", will be the first release to the public. in other words stable release 7.x.x.....
                    so your test project will need to be updated or you will loose a lot of hosts/users

                    FYI

                      7.0.25 now out, lots of user will be upgradeing to BOINC client 7.0.25.. AlmereGrid Test Grid needs to upgrade or lots of invalid work units.
                      up to you. I don't really care anymore.

                        Almere Test Grid is still not fixed because I am getting this problem. Apparently no one at the Test Grid is responding to the board when people write to it with problems either as there have been several of us writing about problems and no one is responding to us with any answers.

                          March 3, 2013 and this project still has not corrected this problem over at Almere Test Grid. As of today, I have suspended my computer's participation in the test grid since the project administration doesn't care about the participants enough to make this simple change, or to even respond to this message board and the people who take part in their project.

                          I can't beleive how uncaring they are about the people who are donating time from their computers to help do their research that they can't take the time to answer their questions about problems relating to their research.

                          This is not the way to get people to want to participate in your projects Almere Grid and Test Grid.

                          I encourage anyone else who is still participating in these projects to join me in stopping allowing any new jobs from being allowed since the administration of the project doesn't care about us enough to make the simple change or to respond to our messages either.
